For the Earth Goddess — who has finally stopped leaving the straw at home.
Beechwood, finished with a food safe oil and otherwise left alone. Beech is close-grained, so there are no wide open pores for anything to lodge in; it is a hardwood, so it takes knocks and wear without complaint; and it is entirely odorless, which matters more than you would expect for something a straw lives in all day.
It runs wider than most cases — 26.3 cm long and 13 mm across — which means it takes a straw up to 26 cm by 12.5 mm. That is boba or smoothie width, or a wide straw with a slimmer stainless one nested inside. Wipe it out, oil it once in a while, carry on.
