White Bean Chili

For the Earth Goddess — a brothy white bean chili built on somebody's husband's secret recipe.

The Secret Garden adapted this mix from a recipe a friend shared — her husband's secret — and it earns the intrigue: a brothy, spicy chili whose kick comes with real flavor behind it. Add cooked cubed chicken or tofu for a satisfying, filling meal.

Instructions: sort the beans and soak overnight in a soup pot with 10 cups of water. Pour 10 cups of boiling water into the pot, let sit an hour, then simmer another hour. Add any extra ingredients and simmer 2–3 more hours until done. Stove top or crockpot directions on the package.
