An unusual palette: polished black tourmaline alternating with selenite, which is a translucent, faintly pearlescent white with a soft fibrous grain running through it. The two could not be less alike, and the contrast is the whole design. Dead center, a matte fluorite round, ten millimeters, banded in whatever the stone happened to be doing — violet through green, occasionally clear, no two the same.

Black and white with one soft color at the middle. It behaves like a neutral and photographs beautifully. Selenite is a softer mineral than most, so this one prefers to be taken off before the dishes.
