For the Earth Goddess — a black string scarf stitched in bold primary colors, with a story better than the look (and the look is good).
This scarf was made through a partnership with Aspiro.org, an organization providing job and life-skill training to cognitively disabled adults at a fair wage. The process is craft in the truest sense: fabric strips are cut, then pulled and stretched until they curl into tubes; the tubes are laid side by side and slid back and forth under a sewing machine until the stitching binds them into a scarf. Clients of various skill levels work different steps — many hands, one beautiful result.
The black base with bold primary-color stitching is a cool look on its own. When you know the whole story, it becomes a very special scarf — and an easy answer when someone asks where you got it.
