Rice Water Hair Treatment

In the terraced hills of Longsheng, the Red Yao women have washed their hair in fermented rice water for generations, and they are known for hair that stays dark and floor-length well into old age. Not a marketing story — a village practice, handed down, older than any laboratory. This treatment carries that ritual forward: Longsheng rice water thickened with coconut milk and bamboo extracts, left in the strands long enough to actually do something.

Work it through damp hair from the mid-lengths down, leave it in while you finish the rest of the shower, then rinse. Best on hair that has been dry or damaged for a while — colored, heat-styled, sun-bleached, the ends that never quite recovered. Softness first, shine after a few uses.
