There is a category of household object you touch more than almost anything you own and never once choose deliberately. Dish soap is the worst offender. It arrives in whatever bottle the shelf offered, in a green nobody has ever seen in nature, and it stays until it is empty. This is the other approach: a bottle you picked, in amber or clear glass, that gets filled again instead of thrown away.
Keep the 8 oz pump at the sink where it looks like it belongs. Keep the 32 oz refill under it. It handles the greasy pan, the coffee cups that have gone brown at the bottom, the wine glasses you would rather not put in the machine. When it runs low, bring the bottle in and fill it. That is the entire system.
