Painted Blue Floral Peace Sign

For the Fire Goddess — the sign, the song, the whole revolution in blue.

Some symbols never retire; they just wait for the right wall. This peace sign, a foot across and wreathed in hand-painted blue blossoms, was cut from a recycled steel oil drum by Haitian artisans practicing the craft Georges Liautaud invented in the late 1950s — chalk the design, flatten the steel, then free it by hand with a mallet and chisel. It has the flowers of 1967 and the backbone of industrial steel, which is roughly the correct recipe for changing the world. Handmade, so dimensions and finish vary slightly from piece to piece.

Hang it on the porch, the fence, or above the record player where it clearly belongs. Set your intention; let the steel hold it. One in the shop.
