Kantha Quilt - Indigo Patch

For the Water Goddess — the one who thinks indigo is a mood rather than a color.

Layers of worn cotton sari, stacked and then held together with tens of thousands of small straight running stitches worked entirely by hand by artisans in India. That is a kantha, and the method is centuries old — born of thrift, of nothing ever being wasted. The indigo patchwork gives this one a cooler temperament than its sisters: deep blues, faded blues, the occasional white break, like weather moving over water.

King size, so it covers a bed the way a bedspread is supposed to — or throw it over a couch, a favorite chair, the foot of a daybed. Plain cotton on the reverse adds weight and comfort. Fair-trade sourced, which means the women who stitched it were paid properly for the months it took. No two are ever alike, so this is the only Indigo Patch there is.

100% cotton · King, 90" × 108" · Hand quilted and hand embroidered · Plain cotton back · Fair trade, made in India · One of a kind · Last one!
