Imaginarium Moon Duster Kimono

For the Air Goddess — the one who wakes with the last frame of the dream still in her hands.

The sleeping woman on this kimono is lifted from Albert Joseph Moore's oil painting Lillies. Everything unfolding around her was gathered from somewhere else entirely — the Boboli Gardens, Argyle House in Scotland, the Tiber, a Japanese manor house, the view out through the arches of the Colosseum. The sixteen-candle chandelier hanging above her comes from a drawing made in 1632. The trim is an English textile fragment from 1785. Three centuries of other people's images, assembled into one woman's dreamscape, which is more or less how dreams actually work.

It falls to mid-length and moves like water when you walk. Wear it open over a slip dress, over jeans and a plain tee, over a swimsuit on the walk back from the beach — it is the layer that makes everything underneath it look deliberate.
