Handmade Coconut Fiber Foot Brush

Stiff coconut fiber set into a block of rubber wood, cut from trees at the end of their working life in the latex groves rather than felled for the purpose. The fiber is the firm kind, the sort that means business on a heel, and it is naturally antibacterial, so it does not go sour and gray the way a synthetic brush does after a season in a damp shower.

Wet or dry, both work. Dry, before a bath, it wakes up the skin along the arch and the outside of the foot. Wet, with a good bar of soap and some conviction, it takes down calloused heels. Afterward, shake the water out and hang it up; the wood handle wants to dry between uses, not sit in a puddle on the tub edge.
