Fit and flare in soft organic cotton sweater knit, with a fair isle bodice worked in the vintage Nordic tradition and a sweater-knit collar that frames a small face rather well. There are front patch pockets, a functional button placket down the center, vintage-inspired trim at the edges, and a skirt full enough to justify the spinning that will inevitably follow. Festive without tipping into costume — it will be worn long after the holiday that occasioned it.
Layer it over the ponte riding pants when the floor is cold, or wear it alone with tights and party shoes. It photographs beautifully, which is not nothing in December.
