Dreamweaver Cropped Bamboo Kimono with Zodiac Signs

For the Fire Goddess — the one who knows her rising sign, and yours, and has thoughts about it.

At the center of this print is Alphonse Mucha's 1896 Zodiac lithograph, the one every Art Nouveau poster since has been quietly imitating: a woman in profile, crowned in celestial goldwork, ringed by all twelve signs. A large star has been added to her crown here, which Mucha would probably have allowed. Behind her is an ink-on-silk scroll painted in the 1860s by Ueno Setsugaku, and the trim carries Mucha's zodiac symbols again on a deep burgundy ground. The whole thing lands somewhere between a museum wall and a 1970s living room, which is exactly the right place for it.

Cropped, so it sits at the waist over high-rise jeans or a long slip without cutting the line. The bamboo viscose is cool and fluid and refuses to wrinkle in a suitcase. Wear it over black and let the burgundy and gold carry the room; wear it over white and let the print read like stained glass.
