The print began as a set of hand-colored etchings from the 1700s, a seasonal catalogue of flowers and seeds commissioned by an English gardener with an obvious weakness for spring. Those blooms have been layered back over one another here until the whole thing spills — peonies against tulips against something ruffled and unidentifiable — and the trim comes from a bumblebee plate in a seed catalogue printed a century later. It is a lot of flowers. That is the point.

The bamboo viscose is the reason this works as an everyday layer rather than a costume: it drapes cool and weightless, so a cropped kimono over a tank and jeans reads finished instead of fussy. Throw it over a slip dress for dinner, or over a swimsuit and let it move in the wind. The print goes with nearly any color, so styling it is mostly a matter of getting out of its way.
