The perfumer’s own note reads: eating cake on the floor with your lover, as Led Zeppelin plays and the warm breeze of wet trees blows in through the windows. That is the entire brief, and the bottle keeps its promise. Peach and mandarin arrive first, bright and a little sticky. Underneath them, warm hay and sweet tobacco — the smell of a summer afternoon that has gone on far too long in the best possible way. Then tree moss, French butter and vanilla settle in and stay.

An oil rather than an alcohol spray, so it goes on quietly and warms into the skin over the first ten minutes instead of announcing itself. A dab at the wrists and the base of the throat is plenty. It looks well on a nightstand.
