In houses all over the warm parts of the world, a gecko on the wall means good fortune has moved in and intends to stay. This one — cousin to our Gecko #4, wearing his own unrepeatable pattern — was chalked onto a flattened, recycled steel oil drum and cut free by hand with a mallet and chisel, the way Haitian artisans have done since Georges Liautaud invented the craft in the late 1950s. Handmade means dimensions and finish vary slightly; yours will be the only one of its kind anywhere.
